Hello Everyone!
It’s finally March! I put up a display of books about Spring, even though it might snow again before the month is over. I hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather while it lasts!
We have new books in both Children’s and Juvenile fiction, including new graphic novels! (There are two additional children’s books that will be out on the shelves soon!) I plan on highlighting at least a few of these books in future emails.
For today’s story time, we had two local middle schoolers come and read! Thank you so much for your help! They read Mel Fell by Corey R. Tabor and Hoot Owl: Master of Disguise by Sean Taylor. For our craft, we colored in birds that looked like Mel from Mel Fell! Our next story time is next Thursday from 10:45-11:45 am.
Next week, we will have a Paper Football Tournament on Monday from 5-6 pm. I remember people playing this game when I was in school, and while I never quite understood it, I will do my best to embrace it for this event. Come for the competition, the glory, and the unnecessarily dramatic music!
On Wednesday we will be making paper airplanes from 5-6 pm. Throughout my life, I have searched for the best paper airplane design, and not been able to find one. (I once made a cylinder that flew really well for some reason?) But today, we will take an important step toward finding answers!
Thursday from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm we will have our Puppet Theater Extravaganza! Come play with puppets! It will also feature me attempting to put on a puppet show with no prior training.
Friday from 4-5 pm will be our Leprechaun Scavenger Hunt. As soon as the month of March struck, the library was invaded by Leprechauns, who are attempting to find our glitter. I fear our defenses cannot last much longer. Solve riddles and follow glitter trails to help us find them!
Finally, I will be running Dungeons and Dragons for kids on Saturday from 12:30-2 pm. You do not have to have any prior knowledge of the game. You just need to know how to add numbers and read, or bring someone (a family member, maybe?) who can add numbers or read for you. If you know how, you can create a level 1 character before the event. Otherwise, I will create Dungeons and Dragons versions of popular cartoon characters for people to choose from.
Hope to see you at the library!
Kaitlyn
