The Gordon-Nash Library is a treasured community resource. Whether you enjoy reading the fine collection, taking advantage of the interlibrary loan system, listening to the growing tape collection, catching up with the news in the reading area, sharing reading hours with your children, meeting with friends and neighbors in the community areas, or idly browsing the magazine racks, or the Internet, the Gordon-Nash Library is a welcoming and comfortable place for all.
Who are the Friends
The Friends of Gordon-Nash Library is a non-profit organization and a member of the New Hampshire Association of Library Friends. Founded in 1993, our mission is to maintain an association of persons interested in the Gordon-Nash Library and to pursue together the following objectives: to focus public attention on the library; to stimulate the use of the library’s resources and services; to receive and encourage gifts, endowments and bequests to the library; to support and cooperate with the library in developing the library’s services and facilities for the community; and to support the freedom to read as expressed in the American Library Association Library Bill of Rights.
How can you help
Become a member! The Friends can only achieve these goals through your support. If you are interested in volunteering at events or serving on a committee, we are always looking for and welcome people who would like to be a part of this organization. If you cannot volunteer time, any donation is welcome. We invite you to join us in any way you can to support the Gordon-Nash Library.
What do we do
Our most recent gifts include a rug for the children’s reading area, drapes and cushion covers for the reading room, protective covers for the periodicals, fax machine, computer equipment, and carousel towers for audio and video cassettes. We also provide refreshments at library events.
Fundraising and Other Activities
Programs include book sales, the annual Victorian Tea, evening talks with authors, and presentations on a variety of topics of interest. We raise additional funds through the sales of book bags, stationery, and calendars and recently established the Gift Book Program.
